Support that starts with how you experience the world. We work with children, youth, families, and adults navigating ADHD, autism, and related everyday challenges, with practical strategies shaped around individual needs.
School, work, relationships, and everyday expectations can feel demanding when the usual advice does not fit how you function. ADHD therapy offers space to explore these experiences, the impact on your confidence, and practical changes that might help.
People sometimes search for ADD therapy when looking for ADHD support. You can use the language that feels familiar to you. In a consultation, we focus on the concerns you want help with and whether a therapist's experience matches your needs, rather than expecting you to arrive with all the answers.
Neurodivergence is a broad term. The support described here includes clients with ADHD, autism, and developmental disabilities; it is not a claim that every therapist works with every neurodevelopmental condition. We consider each person's circumstances and strengths when exploring a good fit.
Depending on your goals and therapist, sessions may draw on CBT, mindfulness based interventions, psychoeducation, and social skills building. You can explore what makes a particular situation difficult and practise manageable responses, rather than trying to change everything at once.
For a child or young person, priorities may include school-related stress, self esteem, emotional regulation and coping with strong feelings, or confidence in relationships. For adults, the focus may be stress, self-esteem, relationships, or transitions. Family involvement can be discussed when appropriate to the client's needs and preferences.
This page describes counselling and psychotherapy support. It does not promise a formal ADHD diagnosis, a neuropsychological assessment, or medication prescribing. If you are looking for one of those services, please raise it during your consultation so the next step can be clarified.
Your first session is a chance to discuss your history, current challenges, existing supports, and what you would like to work toward. A free 15-minute consultation can help you ask questions about therapist fit, language, and in-person or virtual sessions.
Mental health supports provided by Optima Therapy may be covered under Ontario Autism Program (OAP) funding. After sessions, we provide receipts that can be used to claim OAP funding. Ask us during your consultation if you would like to use OAP funding for your child's sessions.
